Simple Pleasures

My recent work has been largely figurative, but there is something to be said to find beauty in everyday objects and what they represent. In particular, I am drawn to the things in life that require process.  Something as seemingly simple as a coffee or latte requires nature, beans, farmer, harvesting, roasting, distribution, an experience hand making the beverage, a potter/artisan to make and glazing the cup....all giving us something that we sometimes take for granted. Artists may not solve the problems of the world, but if we can get you to stop, look, and feel, then maybe we have contributed in some way.

I would like to thank photographer Laureen Missaire for the source of inspiration.
